Slovenians are a nation of beekeepers, which can be felt at every step. We know our Carniolan bee well, its role in nature, and we appreciate the bee products of Slovenian beekeepers. Slovenian beekeepers are renowned across the world for their hospitality and are happy to show our beekeeping farms, serve bee products, and talk about beekeeping in general. This is why they have recently started developing apitourism, as they wish to present their activities to both fellow Slovenian and international beekeepers as well as the national and international public.
Straža-Dolenjske Toplice Beekeepers Society has a 117-year tradition and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2006. Very productive forest bee pastures in this area attract numerous beekeepers from the whole of the country. The beekeeping centre at Podstenice yearly organizes numerous events, which include meetings, hostings, beekeeping and herbalism workshops, exhibitions, extracurricular activities for schools and is also a starting point of many excurtions in the local area.
