Protocol events, weddings and other intimate ceremonies: get married in a romantic historical setting
DEVIL'S TOWER: A VENUE WITH HISTORICAL VALUE
In addition to Dolenjske Toplice Cultural Congress Center itself and several tourist service providers there are other interesting locations and facilities for various occasions and meetings in and around the town. One of these is the monument-protected garden pavilion Devil's Tower (Hudičev turn) in Soteska, which is especially beautiful in the spring when the white daffodils bloom, and is also famous far and wide as an excellent spot for taking beautiful photographs.
The stone tower, built in the 17th century, has the shape of a four-leaf clover and is acoustically exceptional. It offers an interesting and unusual setting for musical and cultural events, exhibitions, weddings, get-togethers and protocol events. It is a venue with a story, historical value and an art monument. With its baroque frescoes, painted by the work circle of the master painter Almanach, and a fairy-tale appearance, it is best suited for intimate ceremonies, including weddings.
The Municipality of Dolenjske Toplice has already carried out the renovation of the pavilion, which primarily ensured waterproofing, and partially restored its beautiful frescos. The interior is richly painted with baroque iconography of hunting, forest, stone fountains and portals, on top of which rest creatures from ancient mythology. The ceiling depicts the abduction of Ganymede by Zeus. The true identity of the painter nicknamed Almanach has been shrouded in mystery for a long time. It was only in 2021 that it was possible, on the basis of archival sources, to connect the painter's identity to Joannes Almenak, who was born in 1640-45 or shortly before, probably in Antwerp. He also painted the ceiling of the County of Celje, the manor of Iški turn and Bokalce, and the ceiling of the Franciscan dining hall in Ljubljana; his painting Kvartopirci II is on display in the National Gallery.
Many couples have already celebrated the happiest day of their lives here. With its architecture, art and historical feel, it will add the magic touch to your own special event. Welcome!
