Vineyard cottage tourism
On Rigelj wine road the visitors follow information signs with a symbol of the church above the vineyards on a yellow background. In fair weather the loop trail offers 5 km of wonderful views of wine-growing hills with 110 m of altitude difference beetwen its lowest and highest points. It winds past three historic churches, which also serve as orientation points. The visitors can catch their breath on two swings by the road - or simply enjoy the view for a few moments and take a photograph or two. To experience authentic local culture, lifestyles and products they can stop by more than 60 marked and named vineyard cottages. Each of them is marked with wooden signs with symbols, which inform the traveler about the tourist offer at that particular cottage. The main purpose of vineyard cottages was and is the storage of wine and tools for cultivating a vineyard. Though traditionally small and humble many nowadays also offer comfortable tourist accommodations.
